All transfers by a few small creatures are both amazing, performed by the realization of a Monarch butterfly's fragility, insects ... these travel between 1,200 and 2,800 miles or more between the start and end points — their achievement without parallel.

What is even more remarkable as the return to where you've never before were Kings sleep. These are great-great-great-grandchildren of those who make the journey to the intrepid on Canada and the United States to the forests in the mountains of Central Mexico.

Monica Echeverria of WWF scientists should be accompanied, the crew of the television on Monarch butterflies twice ????? enclosure. She spoke with her about WWF travel experiences.

WWF Travel: our tour occurs in February. You can describe what our visitors will see at the same time?

Monica Echeverria: for the first time I went to see the Kings was the end of January. In this step, butterflies and often old, but some of them wake up when the Sun strikes it warms their wings. Then they fly pools or puddles to go take a drink of water and return to the trees.

The second time was at the beginning of March, only when they began to awake and fly all over the place. one of the most impressive scenes was when we were driving on the freeway, and suddenly we noticed a colony of butterflies flying downhill. It was like a huge column of black and orange, and following it. You think they are going to crash into, but they're not all cars stopped., and we spent an hour.

WWF: what are conditions like?

ME: butterflies are high-altitude areas. Often you travel hours or 1 1/2 1 through the oak forests, pine oyamel, have to accept.

WWF: do branches on trees in forests really bend from the weight of all the butterflies?

ME: they do!It is like the branches in winter, hanging from the weight of snow. Each weighs less than half grams. industry has thousands each. You do not see even the trunk or branches of trees-a single one spot remains black, everything's Orange.

WWF: why butterflies come here?

ME: with several other species, the Kings forward to avoid strong winter in Canada, the United States, find the correct temperature in winter. What we don't know is how one generation each year for all four or five generations comes back to lift it. we do not know how they find their way back in the same area. This is a great mystery.

WWF: how small butterfly has energy to make such a long journey?

ME: generation that takes the different physical and other generations. for example, during the larval stage, they will develop their sexually, but instead they accumulate oily deposits, get calories to prepare for these users are travelling. lipids for energy to fly all the way to Mexico when they travel, they sleep in weight and sun exposure during this time., they also become sexually mature when they finally wake up ... they're like leads! you see them everywhere mating.

WWF: what people do to prepare for the trip?

ME: expect a lot of walking. because of high altitude and the hills, you should make sure to wear good. hiking shoes are good and plenty of cold water is get-bring gloves, a hat, warm jacket.
